A successful first plant and seed fair

Plant and seed fair

The inaugural Transition Hythe plant and seed fair was a great team effort. Indeed, by the end, plans were already under way for a repeat, probably to coincide with the Hythe Festival Week from 29th June to 7th July – watch this space.

Once more, John and Kay kindly provided their ‘tin church’ for the event and well over 100 visitors were attracted during the morning. On offer, as well as plants and seeds to buy or swap, were second-hand gardening books, gardening equipment, a bric-a-brac stall, home-made cakes, the chance to sign up for our first vertical gardening course (see events section for details) and to learn about Transition Hythe – as well as to look round the tin church itself.

Thank you to everyone involved in the event, particularly Adam and Jane for sourcing and shipping the tables, Zoe and Derek for all the plants and cakes, Roger for manning the Transition Hythe information stand, Sue B, Angela, Moira, Terry and others who manned stands, everyone who provided cakes, plants, seeds etc, and John and Kay for the perfect venue.
