We have been doing our bit over the last couple of years to drive plastics bags out of Hythe. We kicked off in Autumn 2012 when we launched our first Transition Hythe ecobags. This followed a supply of 50 jute bags ‘falling into our laps’, left over from a previous student project.
These sold well and we embarked on a variety of other types of bags, made entirely from recycled materials, such as old jeans, other clothes and curtains. These ‘bespoke bags are beautiful and sturdy, surely a ‘must have’ environmentally friendly local fashion item!
The bag group meets on Wednesdays in central Hythe and these are sociable, fun gatherings. The group would love more helpers, so please make contact if you’d like to be involved.
